Blue PlaquesCommemorate a person or an organisation in the borough with a blue plaque
The new Blue Plaque Scheme for Welwyn Hatfield is led by the Welwyn Hatfield Heritage Forum, a sub-committee of the Cultural Alliance. Aided by the council's Museums Service the project aims to promote a sense of place and greater appreciation of the borough's varied and important heritage. Blue plaques are used to commemorate the life of a noteworthy individual and are affixed to a building with which they were affiliated. There are already 11 such plaques in Welwyn Garden City, including the former homes of: Sir Ebenezer Howard OBE (creator of garden cities), Sir Frederic Osborn (garden city pioneer and leading proponent of the new towns programme) and Louis de Soissons (architect and town planner of Welwyn Garden City). Find out more about the blue plaques which have been erected in the district as well as other local statues, memorials and plaques If you would like to propose someone for a blue plaque, please complete and return the For more details contact the Museum Curator at Mill Green Museum This page was last updated on 05/10/2012 |
